PAIGE PETROVSKY
Journalism - 2018
What brought you to Mohawk College?
I was born and raised in Hamilton and, after finishing high school, knew I didn't want to travel too far from the city for my post-secondary journey. I started researching different journalism programs I could apply to and naturally stumbled across the program at Mohawk. The program really caught my attention but I didn't know too much about the school. A family member had gone to Mohawk and she told me a bit about the school - I went to an open house, met some of the professors, and the rest is history! I have since graduated from the journalism program and a one-year business program.
Tell us about your favourite Mohawk experience?
Definitely campus life during the fall season. Even though it can be a stressful time with assignments, I loved just being on campus during the fall - seeing all the colours, getting back into a routine, and studying outside.
What impact has Mohawk had on your life?
Mohawk helped me get to where I am today. Majority of the opportunities I have gotten since graduating from the journalism program have been a result of a professor recommending me, or telling me about positions available. I met some of my best friends at Mohawk and I always look back at my college experience with fond memories.
What are you up to now?
Ironically enough, I currently work part-time in the Marketing Department at Mohawk and run my business, Preserve Your Words, on the side.
