What brought you to Mohawk College?

At first, it was my aunt who suggested I study English for 6 months while I was waiting to return to my University study. During my English program, I made a lot of good memories with classmates, instructors, and Hamiltonians so I decided not to return to my University and start a new journey at Mohawk College. I can say my classmates, instructors, staff, and all Hamiltonians and Canadians brought me to Mohawk College and Canada.

Tell us about your favourite Mohawk experience?

Various events that are inclusive of international students such as International Education Week. Before I had these events, I had a bit of worry that not every culture may not be welcomed here, it was all wrong. Every time international students share their unique cultures, people at Mohawk College appreciate and enjoy learning about them. It makes me feel safe and welcome myself to call Canada home.

What impact has Mohawk had on your life?

Literally everything since I came to Canada in 2010! I had my first English study, first post-secondary diploma, and first job all at Mohawk College and I’m still working here so I can’t speak about my life without it. I also met a lot of good people and participated in various activities such as hosting a radio show at 101.5 The Hawk, Mohawk Networking Group, and Coffee Club. But I don’t think it ends here. The impact that Mohawk has on my life will only grow and expand in the future.

What are you up to now?

I’m in a role now supporting international students’ enrolments at Mohawk College. It means a lot as I was a student who went through this process and I know how important it is. It’s a new position and because of many current situations around the world, I have a lot to learn. I enjoy what I do and I’m looking forward to making a positive impact on Mohawk College.
