CAROL FILINSKI
Child & Youth Worker - 1996
What brought you to Mohawk College?
I was at a crossroads when my children were almost school aged and decided to go back to school. The Child and Youth Worker program intrigued me, as I was already doing volunteer work with Children’s Aid.
Tell us about your favourite Mohawk experience?
The opportunity to learn “on the job” was invaluable. My school placements prepared me for a challenging, but rewarding career.
What impact has Mohawk had on your life?
I have been employed in this field since graduating in 1996. During this time, I have had so many opportunities to help children and families in a positive way.
What are you up to now?
I am employed as a Child and Youth Worker with the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board but will be retiring in June, 2024 after a wonderful career to spend some time being Grandma.
